Whilst the police may have been football fans, it was clear to any viewer that the conduct of certain players from MacArthur FC supported the tip off to police. Further attempts by the same club to manipulate games on April 20 and May 4 were also identified but were unsuccessful.

The arrested players have been suspended from all football activities by Football Australia under no-fault interim suspension notices. They are expected to face court in the coming weeks. Sydney FC and Melbourne Victory and its players have been cleared of any wrongdoing.
